Bacon on Bree

Bacon lovers, this is especially for you!

Bacon on Bree is situated on one of Cape Town’s hottest culinary scenes, Bree Street. They call themselves the “baconporium.”

The café has a relaxed atmosphere with a modern classic twist. You can either sit upstairs in the main area or opt for the secret courtyard downstairs. We opted for the dining area downstairs, just for privacy and time away from the busy city life.

“We at Bacon on Bree believe in letting the quality of our food speak for itself. Our customers care about what they put in their bodies and respect our passionate approach to organically-sourced produce. When it comes to making beautiful food, we never take shortcuts. We dedicate ourselves to creating unforgettable meals for our customers. In short, we strive to serve the best.”

Now let’s get to the menu (Excuse me while I drool).

I ordered The BLT and Mr had The Salma Hayek with hot chocolate.

The BLT consists of French toasted ciabatta, bacon, rocket, tomato and their homemade “baconnaise.” This sandwich has the right balance of flavours which compliment each other. Its downright delicious and very filling!

How adorable are these Mervyn Gers mugs? They made in South Africa.

Bacon on Bree operating times are Monday to Saturday from 7am to 5pm, but they are open in the evenings for private functions. The perfect daytime spot! They also offer a range of bacon products to use at home.

What I like most about Bacon on Bree is the simplicity of their menu. Nothing is foreign, the quality of the food is great (which makes a big difference) and the portions are quite generous.

Until next time folks,

Megan

I remember, while living in London, there was this cafe near our office that made bacon sarnies which was a must have on a Friday morning because I was always hung over from the night before, as my flatmates insisted on “thirsty Thursday” drinks, which never ended good.
Will definitely try out this place as it will definitely bring back some fond memories.
Thanks for this excellent post and walk down memory lane.
