Fine Brandy Fusion 2014

The Fine Brandy Fusion 2016 was hosted at the CTICC. It was my first time attending the event and I’m really not sure why I waited that long. Coming into the CTICC, the air was electric … I could feel the energy of the brandy lovers.
My dad and I wanted to broaden our knowledge and most importantly, taste the different brands. There were 50 brands ranging from KWV, Collison,  Boplaas, Jd, Imoyo, Laborie, Blaauwklippen, Fish Eagle and Cognac.  If you attended the event, you would know why South African brandy is acknowledged to be the worlds finest.
The KWV 20 year old was one of my dad’s favourites. The brandy is so smooth, you only really need ice. I also tried a white brandy named Collinson’s served with mouth watering white chocolate truffles. Entertainer at the Fine Brandy Fusion 2014 event, none other than Micasa. And did they entertain the crowd! Everyone gathered around them and we danced to some local music. As you can imagine, it was loads of fun.
Possibly one of the smoothest (and delicious) cocktails I’ve had in my entire life. In the image below, you will see the white brandy paired with a cupcake (topped with gold). They also made a wide variety of drinks, including cocktails at the event. My dad thoroughly enjoyed the talk on how the barrels are made in South Africa. It’a an intricate process that requires special craftsmanship. Unfortunately there are only a few skilled workers in South Africa that can still make these barrels. The event was money well spent. For R195, you receive 15 brandy coupons, 3 cocktail coupons, 2 premium coffee coupons and free access to the Mi Casa show. What a fun night with my dad, experiencing brandy at its best. I would strongly advise that you hire a cab.
Fine Brandy Fusion, you will definitely see me next year!
Love and light,
Megan
