Fine Dining at Dash Restaurant

Dash restaurant invited my partner and I for dinner on Monday night. Upon arrival, we were taken to the restaurant’s bar area, enjoyed the sided fire place and a pomegranate martini. The bar is the perfect spot for meeting friends/family after work for drinks as it offers sophistication and a relaxed atmosphere.

Dash restaurant is surrounded by panoramic views of Table Mountain and the V&A Waterfront. It is situated at the Queen Victoria hotel.

After finishing our martinis, we were taken into the restaurant for dinner. Whilst reading the menu, the chef welcomed us with a pork belly and bacon appetiser. We were also served parmesan flavoured bread and ciabatta, with three types of butter, plain, pesto and honey and sundried tomatoes. My favourite butter was the pesto and honey flavour, the texture was light and the combination of flavours was a marriage made in heaven! For starters, I ordered the beetroot cured salmon, horseradish apple slaw and bread crisps. My partner ordered the double baked gorgonzola soufflé, with biltong shavings and hazelnuts. The combination of flavours was amazing and presented beautifully!

In-between the starters and mains, we were served 3 palate cleansers: apple and cinnamon, citrus orange and lemon and lime. I thoroughly enjoyed the lemon and lime palate cleanser.

For mains, I ordered the grilled fillet of beef, served with spinach puree, melange of vegetables and jus. My partner ordered the pan fried venison, served with parsley mash and carrot puree. The fillet of beef was so tender; it almost melted in my mouth. The vegetables were crisp and the puree was smooth, light and creamy.

For dessert, we shared the hot chocolate fondant with orange ice cream and bitter sugar brittle. The sweetness of the hot chocolate fondant cuts through the bitter sugar brittle and the ice cream, making it a downright delicious dessert. Once we broke into the fondant, the chocolate came oozing out and it blended well with the ingredients. We were also served a platter of Turkish delights and honey comb covered in chocolate. At this point, it felt like both me and my partner needed to roll out of the restaurant.

A fine dining experience like no other! What I enjoyed most about the experience at Dash is the sophisticated ambiance of the restaurant, the food and wine, and attention to detail. The waitrons pay close attention to your table and the service is excellent! They are friendly, proficient, honest and knowledgeable. The restaurant is open Monday to Sunday, 07h00 – 23h00.

I would highly recommend the restaurant for a sophisticated fine dining experience.
