MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet celebrates its 21st birthday

It will please some of you to know that I finally got my hands dirty. I recently joined the Greenpop team at their Eco-Education Hub in Woodstock to volunteer for a few hours. Deon Kotze, the programme manager facilitated the process by taking me on a tour through the grounds before we started working in the garden.

Greenpop is a non-profit organisation that plants trees through urban greening and reforestation projects. They help to spread environmental awareness and run green festivals and workshops across Southern Africa. The main purpose of the Eco-Education Hub is to create an interactive and practical learning space for the greater Cape Town community. Teaching environmental literacy, sustainable living techniques and helping people connect to nature are some of the main objectives.

Greenpop is a beneficiary organisation of MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet programme

The MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet community loyalty programme is celebrating 21 years of giving back. To date, more than R500 million has been raised for South African schools, charities, animal and environmental causes thanks to supporters swiping their cards at participating retailers.

In celebration of its 21st anniversary, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet has launched the ‘21 years of Giving Back’ campaign with R2.1 million to give away to 21 causes. Supporters are invited, until the end of February 2019, to nominate any South African charitable organisation that matters to them. On May, 21 winning beneficiary organisations will be chosen from the list of nominations to each receive R100 000.

Vote for your favourite beneficiary organisation

The 21 Years of Giving Back campaign is open to MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet supporters throughout the country. “We hope that R2.1 million to give away to 21 causes to celebrate 21 Years of Giving Back will inspire supporters to put their local heroes in the spotlight and give them a chance to win R100 000 towards the continuation for their important work within communities.”

Follow the 3 easy steps and nominate your favourite beneficiary:
