Staycation in Constantia with AfriStay + Competition
Nestled between Table Mountain National Park and the Constaniaberg, lies Constantia – a tranquil and green area ideal for wine-lovers and hiking enthusiasts. When AfriStay sent me a voucher to book accommodation via their website. I knew exactly where I wanted to stay, in Constantia close to the vineyards.
AfriStay (previously known as Accommodation Direct) is one of South Africa’s largest accommodation sites, with over 22 000 listings across Southern Africa. Founded in 2006, by local entrepreneurs Oliver Bryant and Ric Meulemans. AfriStay quickly grew to become one of South Africa’s largest accommodation portals.
After receiving my travel voucher, I immediately searched for accommodation in Constantia and made a booking at Alphen Vines. I’ve always been drawn to the green leafy areas (more on our stay later). The booking system on AfriStay was seamless, easy, convenient and safe. I have to mention the excellent customer experience from the staff at AfriStay. Every time I had a question, they responded to my e-mail within minutes. Something also has to be said about the wishlist available to all users on their website, it’s similar to creating a bucket list of places to visit. I have 10 places on my wishlist throughout Southern Africa, a girl can dream, right? I’ve ticked off one place thus far, the Alphen Vines in Constantia.

A long driveway leads to the entrance of the accommodation. On the right-hand side of the driveway, is a huge garden. The garden is scenic, with a swimming pool and a small vineyard. After admiring the garden, the friendly host took us into our room. The luxury accommodation is decorated tastefully, with a bathroom, kitchenette and dressing room with lots of closet space. A charming space for 2 with modern decor and a Victorian styled bathroom. After seeing the bath, apart of me wished we didn’t have water restrictions in Cape Town.
The space draws you in and makes you feel at home immediately.
My Mom and I stayed in the Pinotage room, which was slightly bigger than the Riesling room. Each room includes a light continental breakfast. Both of us instantly fell into a state of relaxation. I brought my laptop with me to do some work, but shortly after arriving, I decided to disconnect from social media and my e-mails. Instead of staring at my laptop screen, I watched the birds in the garden whilst enjoying wine from Buitenverwachting. I can only imagine how beautiful the garden is during Spring and Summer. My wish is to go back during Summer, have a picnic in the garden and sunbathe at the swimming pool. The location of the house ensures easy access to the Constantia wine route, M3, and surrounding restaurants. I made a travel itinerary below, these highlights some of my favourite places to visit in Constantia.
