The Food Journal
I love adventuring and eating at different restaurants in Cape Town. Cape Town’s restaurant scene is diverse and blooming with so much character. Every restaurants offers a different ambiance and menu to compliment it. The food journal will focus on different restaurants in Cape Town.
Tashas Café, Waterfront
The Greenland Quesadillas
By far, the best quesadillas I’ve ever tasted. It’s filled with avo, feta, pistachio nuts, mozzarella, baby spinach and basil mayo. I added mushrooms as an extra. Yum!
Gluten and diary free orange –coconut cake
You can still enjoy some small (less guilty) pleasures after any meal. The balance of the orange and coconut flavour is perfect.
Oh man, talk about a light and luscious cheesecake! This creamy cheesecake accompanied with a good cup of coffee is the perfect ending to any meal.
HQ Restaurant, Cape Town
A classic green salad, served with shavings of Parmesan cheese, olive oil vinaigrette and pine nuts.
Sirloin Steak and Thin Cut French Fries
The medium cooked sirloin steak (250g) is served with the HQ signature Café de Paris butter sauce. This tender butter soft steak is juicy and downright delicious. Did I mention that the fries are bottomless?
Chocolate Pecan Nut Bread Pudding
This pecan nut and dark custard pudding is layered with bread and served with vanilla ice cream. A delicious, rich and decadent winter pudding.
The Creamery Café, Newlands
Warm Apple Crumble
The perfect dessert for winter, it’s sweet, nutty, savoury and comforting. There are sprinkles of golden oats that gives it a crunchy texture. It’s served with a scoop of sweet ice cream and salted caramel sauce.
Waffle with chocolate sauce and ice cream
Waffles in winter is a thing right? Well it should be, especially if you are visiting The Creamery Café. The café smells of warm, freshly made waffles and coffee. Definitely a winner in any season.
