The South African Select Tour

The South African Select Tour

Nestled in Church Street Stellenbosch, The Diamond Works offers travelers a unique wine tasting tour whilst witnessing the art of diamond cutting and learning about the rich history of diamonds and gold in South Africa. Patrycja from Travel Opulent Box and I recently experienced The South African Select Tour at The Diamond Works branch in Stellenbosch, which forms one of two flagship stores in the Winelands. The other branch is located in Franschhoek.

Upon arrival, we received a short orientation around the store. Thereafter the staff members explained the diamond cutting process and the history of diamond and gold in South Africa. The exquisite diamonds, tanzanite and gold pieces can be tried on in the store, however, there is no pressure to make any purchases.

The South African Select Tour in collaboration with Deeflets wine estate

Now here’s the exciting news, The South African Select Tour includes a wine tasting experience at Deetlefs wine estate. Deetlefs was established in 1822, the second oldest wine estate in South Africa. After visiting The Diamond Works branch in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, you will be chauffeured to Deetlefs wine estate in the Breedekloof Valley. A private wine tasting awaits, ending with a South African inspired gourmet burger. The experience includes door-to-door transportation from your home, ensuring a safe arrival at each establishment.

The brand manager, Bea Liebenberg facilitated the wine tasting experience in store. We enjoyed tasting the premium Pinotage range, starting with the only white Pinotage Methodé Cap Classique in the world. Following the MCC, we tasted the Pinotage Rosé from their Stonecross Range and ended the taste sensation with the multiple award-winning Estate Pinotage for all the red wine lovers. The Pinotage MCC and Rosé was a firm favourite.
